Iowa

"Is
this heaven?"
"No, it's Iowa."
From "The Field of Dreams"
When
I was first asked if I would go work in Iowa, I thought, "Why?"
I was under the impression that Iowa was nothing but flat corn
fields. Well, not the northeast corner. Check out the photos below.

What, you may be wondering, is a picture
of John Wayne's birthplace doing in the middle of all of these bridges.
Well, it is real simple; that is where it belongs. The covered bridges of Madison
County are located all around the
small town of Winterset, Iowa; John Wayne's birthplace. I know, it is
a real shocker that the biggest, baddest
cowboy of them all, was born in, of all places, a small south-western Iowa town.
That was almost as bad as
finding out that Bill Cody was born on the Mississippi River at La Claire, Iowa.
